Every year I make up several hanging baskets and pots to display around the garden and on the deck.

This year, because it has been exceptionally dry, they are beginning to fade and are far from their best.

To cheer me up I have been looking at my baskets in previous years and ……………. here they are.

TODAYS FLOWERS 103

Roses blooming in our garden in June and July enjoying the unusual warmth and sunshine.

A thornless rose which surrounds our bedroom window despite being thoroughly neglected.

Past it’s prime but still beautiful and fragrant.

 

 

A lone poppy stands tall and proud

Osteospermum seeking the sun

Arum Lilies with their roots in the fish pond.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN SUMMER

Much cooler here than in the east of the country this weekend and a very pleasant day for a walk along the Exeter Canal.

 

Water gently flowing up from the estuary making silky patterns on the surface.

A boat full of tourists on its way up river to Exeter.

Whoops, there’s a bridge in the way!

no problem for this modern day superman.

Safely through.

King cups carpet the surface and several different flowers line the banks.

No day of rest for this busy bee
