Our Garden
Have not posted for a while as it is all quiet at home after our holiday. Our friends are away in London with their families and we are sitting here, watching the wind and rain coming towards us from the west and bemoaning the thousands of leaves covering every square inch of our garden.
It is very much a spring garden – full of flowering shrubs
A rather overloaded camellia
Now, you will be able to imagine me sitting on my deck with a G & T in hand and enjoying the view over the woods to the sea beyond.

AND HERE’S MORE FROM SPAIN -
As I mentioned earlier, we stayed in a different apartment this year in a newly built hotel which we had watched rising from the beach over a couple of years. Originally we thought it was a car park.
Yes, very swish and definitely 4 star. We could not afford the hotel but the apartment , between two couples, was affordable and we self catered.
The swimming pool was amazing – luxurious chairs and sofas and the infinity pool looked onto the beach.
Mike found it the perfect place for a siesta
Above the club house was a champagne bar – we had a look around but right out of our price range
The pool at night.
In contrast to the ultra modern there is the old town on top of the hill.
Modern murals on buildings mix the old and the new
Tiling is a big part of spanish architecture but the roof below is just amazing
Tomorrow we go on a trip to the mountains

BACK FROM SPAIN PART 2
Saturday is Market Day, not just a tourist market but a market for the locals selling everything they could possibly need. It stretches from the top of the hill to the bottom and is always extremely busy.
However, I am a tourist and I went looking for sandals, I found these at 10 euros – bargain
I bought the green ones.
A selection of handbags which I resisted having several new and unused ones in my wardrobe!
Jewellery ( Phoebe would love these!)
Metal Art – different!
Then there are the numerous carnivals – this one in Altea – Moors and Christians
What amazing costumes
Umm, a rather handsome musician.
When in Calpe one of our favourite things to do is have lunch with our friends Chris and Alan at their Finca in the mountains overlooking Calpe.
The best ribs and steak and kidney pie in Spain all washed down with copious amounts of wine and beer.
Lunch at Pepe’s , fab food and fab company.
That has made me hungry – come back tomorrow for more photos.

Still. my laptop is repaired so I can at least show you some different flowers discovered on this trip.
